The Challenge

TackTMI approached WeGetDesign with multiple systems requirements:

1. 360° Assessment Application

  • Complex survey builder with dynamic question categorization and subcategorization
  • Multi-language support (English, Spanish, Italian) with user-specific language preferences
  • Sophisticated reporting system showing aggregated results across categories
  • User management for administrators, managers, and assessment participants
  • Data integrity challenges with translation management and question ordering

2. Technical Constraints

  • Need for enterprise-grade security and data protection
  • Complex workflow requirements for survey administration
  • Real-time data processing for immediate reporting
  • Scalability to handle multiple simultaneous assessment projects

3. Evolution Challenges

  • Platform needed to evolve from basic assessment to advanced categorized surveys
  • Existing reporting system required significant refactoring to accommodate new features
  • Risk of disrupting production systems during major upgrades

Our Approach

Applying our core delivery model to mitigate risk and ensure governance.

Discover

Our team conducted a comprehensive discovery phase to understand TackTMI's assessment workflows:

  • Mapped existing survey administration processes and identified pain points
  • Analyzed reporting requirements across different stakeholder groups (administrators, managers, participants)
  • Documented translation workflow requirements for multi-language support
  • Assessed data security requirements for enterprise client compliance
  • Identified scalability requirements based on projected usage patterns

The discovery phase revealed that the categorization system would need to be highly flexible, with some surveys having no categories while others might have 10+ categories and subcategories. This dynamic nature required careful database architecture planning.

Design

We designed a modular system architecture with the following key components:

Database Architecture:

  • Tag-based category assignment system for maximum flexibility
  • Separate translation data types for multi-language content management

User Experience Design:

  • Intuitive survey builder interface for category assignment
  • Conditional display logic showing categories only when relevant
  • Multi-step survey flow with clear progress indicators

Technical Planning:

  • Scenario analysis for reporting system architecture (client-side vs. database-driven)
  • Risk mitigation strategy for modifying production reporting workflows
  • Security audit implementation with Flusk.eu integration

Develop

Development was executed across multiple phases:

Phase 1: Core Assessment Platform

  • Database setup for category/subcategory entities and relationships
  • Project setup modifications to accommodate dynamic categorization
  • Survey page UI updates with conditional category display
  • Reporting system planning and workflow mapping

Phase 2: Multi-Language Implementation

  • Translation data type architecture supporting English, Spanish, and Italian
  • User preference system linking language selection to content display

Phase 3: Security & Maintenance

  • Cyber security audit and updates
  • Platform version upgrades and compatibility fixes
"No idea how you figured that out in that timeframe but it's wild. Well done and the amount of relief I have right now is immeasurable!"
